Key segments, such as cruise ships and offshore vessels, benefit from tightening emissions regulations, although the limited capacity of shipyards remains a challenge. In the energy market, the growth of renewable energy and the need for balancing power sustain strong demand, and the company is actively offering new power plant solutions globally. The energy storage market is vibrant, and Wärtsilä emphasizes selectivity in its orders to ensure profitability. Positive signs are also evident in the capacity utilization of the Vaasa factory and the management of wage inflation. Wärtsilä’s outlook for 2025 remains neutrally optimistic.

Wärtsilä has reported significant new projects and strategic advancements toward the end of the year. The company is building a 43-megawatt engine power plant for EPV Energia’s Tornion Voima in Finland, designed to balance the power grid and support the transition to sustainable fuels. Additionally, Wärtsilä is delivering gas cooling systems for GasLog’s LNG vessels under a service and maintenance agreement. Thanks to the solid performance in storage and Portfolio Business, we have significantly raised our margin forecasts for the group. After the share price decline we have seen and the upgrades to our earnings forecasts, the stock is once again attractively valued on multiple metrics. We raise our recommendation back to Accumulate and, following our forecast changes, increase our target price to EUR 19.50 (was EUR 18.00). In the share issue, 356,145 Wärtsilä shares held by the company will be transferred without consideration approximately on 4 March 2025 to the participants who are entitled to reward on the basis of Performance Share Plan 2022-2024.
