NIMBUS GROUP SECURES CONTRACT FROM FMV VALUED AT UP TO MSEK 400 OVER 15 YEARS TO DEVELOP AND MANUFACTURE WORK BOATS FOR THE ARMED FORCES
Nimbus Group’s Alukin brand has, in partnership with Svensk Konstruktionstjänst (Svekon), won a framework agreement tender to develop and manufacture a small work boat for the Swedish armed forces. The contract includes a number of options relating to vessel deliveries over nine years as well as spare parts over 15 years and if all suborders are called off, the total order value for Nimbus Group during the period of the contract will amount to approximately MSEK 400.
The contract includes the development of a pre-series vessel over the next two years and subsequent series production of up to 100 vessels during the following seven-year period. The MSMB 200 work boat will be constructed in aluminum, have a length of 10 meters and be fitted with a powerful inboard engine. The vessel will have a capacity to transport two crew and eight passengers with kit, making it a flexible and effective tool in the armed forces’ marine operations.
After year 3, FMV can choose to let the agreement continue with two-year extension options that enable suborders to be called off for 15 vessels per year, or a total of 30 vessels per option period. In this way, a total of 100 vessels could be ordered during the nine-year period of the contract.
“Alukin’s fully welded aluminum boats are famous for their robust design and great durability. The order confirms Nimbus Group’s ability to construct and produce boats that meet the highest standards in terms of technical specifications and quality,” says Jan-Erik Lindström, CEO of Nimbus Group.
