PAYDAY 3 release date announced as September 21st 2023
Starbreeze’ new game, PAYDAY 3, will be released on September 21st to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game’s standard edition is priced at USD 40 with more expensive editions priced up to USD 90. Both the release date and price were broadly in line with our expectations of a late Q3 release and a price of USD 45.
Starbreeze also announced that the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Game Pass is a subscription service that offers users access to a vast library of games for a monthly fee ranging from USD 10 to 15. This means users can access PAYDAY 3 at a lower price point, which will divert some sales from the standalone game. Starbreeze will, however, naturally receive compensation for placing PAYDAY 3 on Xbox Game Pass. The press release in fact mentions that Xbox together with Starbreeze and Plaion will undertake joint marketing activities for the game.
Three different digital editions (Standard, Silver, Gold) and two physical editions (Day one, Collector) of the game will be available. The price of the Standard edition is USD 40, while the Silver and Gold editions will be sold at USD 70 and USD 90, respectively. The higher-priced editions grant players early access to the game, starting on September 18th, along with special bonus content and a season pass (6 and 12 months) that provides access to future DLCs.
In conjunction with the announcement of the release date a gameplay trailer for PAYDAY 3 was released and can be viewed here. In addition, as a consequence of the PAYDAY 3 announcement the subscription period for the ongoing rights issue has been extended. The extended subscription period will run up to and including June 20, 2023.
